Peace-of-Mind Cremation Process

Providing our families with the peace-of-mind they are entitled to during the cremation process is of paramount concern to us.  As a result, we have developed the most rigorous set of operating policies and procedures in order to maximize our level of service and minimize the potential for human error.  To accomplish this, we have created a ten-step "Peace-of-Mind Cremation Process".  In addition to this process, we require licensed professionals to oversee the operation of our cremation equipment at all times and the majority of our professional staff members have completed a voluntary cremation certification program.  We also monitor and record all activities in our crematory 24-hours per day using a closed-circuit DVR system.  None of these safeguards are required by law and no other cremation facility in New Hampshire can match our rigid operating procedures.  But with the responsibility you have entrusted with us, why should you expect anything less?  Our crematories are open for inspection during normal business hours and we allow family members to be in attendance during the cremation process.

10-Step Peace-of-Mind Cremation Process

Five Steps Prior to Cremation

  1. Our metal "Identification Medallion" reflecting his or her unique cremation ID number is placed on your loved one immediately upon arrival at our facility. This medallion will stay with them throughout the process and will be placed in the urn upon completion.  It has a unique number on it which will be recorded on all paperwork and forms.
  2. At our facility, the cremation container in which your loved one is placed is labeled with their name and identification medallion number and they are carefully put into our secure refrigeration unit.
  3. Your loved one's information is logged onto our crematory tracking slip with date of death, ID number and attendant's name. Any personal items are recorded as well.
  4. A state-appointed medical examiner views your loved one, reviews the death certificate information, and completes and signs a cremation certification form.
  5. Immediately prior to cremation the crematory operator removes your loved one from our refrigeration unit, reviews all paperwork including the death certificate, cremation authorization, medical examiner form and any family instructions and your loved one is then digitally fingerprinted. The digital file is securely transmitted to a database in an off-site facility where it is stored for 3 years.

Five Steps During and After Cremation

  1. Once your loved one's cremation has begun, the crematory tracking slip is updated with the date and time of cremation and crematory operator's name. The paperwork is attached to the front of the crematory where it remains throughout the cremation.
  2. After the cremation, the crematory operator removes all of the cremated remains from the crematory chamber.  The cremated remains are then cooled and processed, with each step being recorded onto the tracking slip.
  3. The cremated remains along with the ID medallion are placed into the permanent or temporary urn selected by the family.  The urn is affixed with an identification label.  The urn is then held in our secure facility for pick-up by the family or delivered to another destination designated by the family.
  4. The family, cemetery representative or whomever has been entrusted to take receipt of the cremated remains signs the two part cremation certificate.  The top of the certificate is given to the family or cemetery and the bottom is retained as a record of pick-up.
  5. All information on the crematory tracking slip is logged into our computer system. The tracking slip, medical examiner's cremation certification, signed release of cremated remains tear sheet and all original paperwork is kept as a permanent record.
